Patty Duke has been an American actress famous for her experience in stage, television and TV films. She started acting in an early age — 16 and won the Academy Award for her role as Helen Keller at the 1982 blockbuster — The Miracle Worker.

Patty Duke was Created on December 14, 1946, in Elmhurst, Queens, New York to John Patrick Duke (Attorney, Taxi driver) and Frances Margaret (cashier). She is of Irish — German warrior as well as the youngest of 3 kids. In age eight, small Duke was introduced into acting with her brother’s (Raymond Duke) supervisors — John and Ethel Ross who gave her the stage name Patty. Patty was a victim of molestation and abuse at the hands of the Rosses whom she disclosed gave her alcohol, drugged, sexually molested and cheated of her earnings by accepting unreasonably substantial fees out of her. She began with Advertisement commercials before landing a couple of movie jobs here and there. Patty Duke also featured in a television adaptation of Meet Me in St. Louis in which she portrayed the use of Tootie Smith, the character that was initially in the movie version by Margaret O’Brien. Her performance in the movie, made her an Academy Award in age 16, which makes her the youngest recipient of this award at that moment. She won the Golden Globe. With the success of The Miracle Worker, by 1962, Duke was filmed on her own sitcom named T Patty Duck Show. The show was on for 3 seasons and contributed for her very first Emmy nomination. She got involved in songs that was a massive success. Together with her top 10 debut album Don’t Just Stand There, Patty became a name to reckon with at the area of amusement. Back in 1967, she starred in the cult classic Valley of The Dolls and Potter movie Me, Natalie at 1969 that brought her another Golden Globe Award. Before then, Duke had won another Emmy for her role at a mini-series Captains and the Kings. From the 1980s, Duke had paid her dues in the business. By 1985 — 1988, she had been president of the Screen Actors Guild. She stayed active in the sector till her unfortunate death in 2016.
