Even though Abraham Quintanilla Jr. strongly disapproved of this relationship since he thought Perez would just make Selena overlook her fantasies and leave her songs, she obtained the aid of her mum. In 1992, the two fans decided to elope and get married. Before they got married, Quintanilla Jr disbanded Perez in the group, but after the union, he took him back in. The union produced two kids however, it ended in a divorce in 2008.
